New Certification Released!

The Distributed Antenna Systems Technician (DAST) certification includes robust technical service and skills applicable to all of the functions required to safely and completely test, commission, maintain, troubleshoot and provide support of in-building public safety distributed antenna systems during and after installation.

DAST covers the IFC and NFPA requirements of annual recertification and five-year reoptimization of the entire Public Safety DAS. Public safety DAS Emergency Radio Communications Enhancement Systems (ERCES) includes equipment and components (BDAs, active and passive devices, copper wiring, fiber optics, antenna cabling, connectors, splitters, couplers, taps, hybrid connections, amplifiers, and test equipment) within the various communications systems with which connectivity is provided. Further, there are areas addressing Code Compliance and Design for ERCES and for additional knowledge and best practices. This certification can be either a Journeyman or Stand-Alone certification. Cost is $105.

New Certification Released!

The Broadband Fiber Installer (BFI) certification is ETA's newest fiber optic certification and designed for technicians specializing in the FTTx field studying the "physical layer" of the OSI model.

This certification covers a variety of topics including:

  • Passive Optical Networks (PON)
  • Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) operations
  • Cable Installation and Management practices
  • And so many more!

You'll also learn practical skills such as fiber optics troubleshooting techniques and gain hands-on experience in analyzing FTTx signatures, measuring reflectance, and identifying faults in fiber optic communications and transmission cabling. This certification is a Stand-Alone certification. Cost is $155.
