ETA Expands DAS Program with New Distributed Antenna Systems Technician (DAST) Certification

(Greencastle, Indiana) December 9, 2024: ETA® International is now offering its accredited Distributed Antenna System Technician (DAST) Certification, a vital credential aimed at achieving the life-saving goal of enhancing in-building public safety through reliable communication systems.

Distributed Antenna Systems Technicians (DAST) are expected to attain knowledge concepts of distributed antenna systems and antenna installation for public safety applications as established in DASI. Additionally, robust technical service and skills applicable to all of the functions required to safely and completely test, commission, troubleshoot and provide support of in-building public safety distributed antenna systems during and especially after installation.

The DAST Certification equips technicians with the knowledge and technical expertise necessary to:

  • Commission, optimize, and troubleshoot Public Safety DAS Systems.
  • Perform required periodic maintenance to ensure system integrity.
  • Integrate DAS systems into the broader public safety RF infrastructure without degrading network performance.
  • Utilize specialized test equipment and analyze measurement results to verify system functionality.

Knowledge of specialized test equipment, utilizing tests and analyzing results are non-hands-on. The DAST certification not only validates technical knowledge but also reflects a commitment to excellence in ensuring public safety. By achieving this certification, technicians demonstrate their ability to:

  • Address complex DAS installations.
  • Meet industry standards for ERCES compliance.
  • Support stakeholders in creating safer environments for first responders and building occupants.
